Apparently, there is something wrong with my new camera and my backup is still broken :( So I'm going to be cameraless for the holidays. I am totally bummed out and rather pissed off actually.
There is like a purple blotch showing up on the right side of my camera's LCD screen and its showing up on all my pictures. I don't know whats causing it and will probably have to send it back to Nikon so no camera/photography/365 for me for a while. Just in time for the holidays. Grr!!
Can you post an example photo? The purple blotch could just mean that your camera's sensor needs cleaning, or it could be a fault with the sensor. Hard to tell without seeing how it shows up in your photos.
that's just terrible, I had no 'real' camera for near on three week and had to make do with a 7yr old p&s and Polaroids and a dodgy camera phone ... still was interesting to have to 'go backwards' to move forwards.....
This is what its doing. The only thing I can think of is what you said: the sensor. It does an automatic sensor cleaning every time I turn it on and off. Other than that, I wouldn't know how to clean it.
@kcphotography That looks very similar to a problem I was having with my camera, although mine was right in the centre but not as large. IMHO I think it may just be that the sensor needs a good clean. Sometimes the dust build up on the sensor is too much for the auto clean function to deal with or there may be a spot of grease on the sensor. If you have a good camera shop or a camera repair place near you they will usually clean the sensor for you for a small fee. I'd definitely give this a go before opting to send the camera back.
