Someone wants to pay me for prints...

Ok, so today I got my first request for paid prints of my photographs. I've given cds of images to people for a few sessions, but I've never printed off copies for anyone. What is the easiest way to go about doing this? Should I just have them pick the ones they want and then go and print them out myself, or is there a website out there that would allow someone to order prints? I'm just wondering how anyone else in the business goes about getting prints to people.

I always show my clients in person if at all possible, and get them to choose right then and there. But, I do that because they spend more that way, and they are paying me right then too.

If you want an easy way without doing all that, I think Smugmug could be a good way to go.

I have use Mpix for my prints, and love them! The quality of photos is really nice (I especially like the Kodak metallic paper), the shipping is super fast, and the prices are fantastic. I always order my prints with boutique packaging (at no charge to client) as I feel the presentation is nicer then just handing them an envelope with photos in it. Congrats on the "sale"!!

@jinximages @rebcastillo77 Thank you both for your quick replies! I'm also wondering -- how much on top of the cost of printing would you guys usually charge people?

@eliserose781 I base my prices on an hourly rate of $125 (minimum). So, I list my prints based on what I expect to sell. My old price list (that I'm using until my website is finished) has 4x6, 5x7, and 6x8 prints at $20, 8x10 and 8x12 at $50, and up from there. My new price list will have anything 8x12 or smaller at $50 - no more $20 prints at all. Why? Because I want to sell large prints. If someone wants small prints they can either buy a collection with a presentation box, or an album. And honestly, I think I'm going to have to put that $50 pricetag up to $70 or so by the end of the year.
