Gender Diversity

Is it me or has anyone else observed that 365Project is totally dominated by members of the fairer sex. My theory: Men/boys simply can't stick to anything for any length of times. Hoping to proof you wrong.

What's your theory?

Wiet

PS Have three daughters as well as my amazing wife. I am sure they will all feature at some time in the coming 365 days.

There does seem to be more women than men but I have several awesome guys that follow me and that I follow, including my dad. Here are links to some of those great guys, so maybe you can connect with the manly side of 365. =)

if the word got out that it was ladies night 365... there would be more. ha
January 3rd, 2011
What an astute observatione, But it does seem so. Maybe women have the finesse of the fine art of photography?
January 3rd, 2011
@duds we sure do but in the real world (paying and public/international recognition) the men are stacked up against us very unfairly ... sad but true (any dispute there? anyone?)
January 3rd, 2011
@misschuff The glass ceiling has been broken for mine. This is about photography, leave our ideology in the back of our minds (:
January 3rd, 2011
To add to this, it seems the vast majority of the females are married. @Scrivna you need to abandon the "365 loves" adverts and stick some household cleaning items in here!

@misschuff No dispute here *flex*

There are non as fair as me, except possibly the Steve. ;0)

Good to see that there is some vocal guys out there. Did not realise I would see this many responses. Sara thanks for the tips.

@eyebrows A little bit sexist maybe?! :p
January 4th, 2011
@naomi I am saying nothing further lest I did myself a hole :P
January 5th, 2011
@eyebrows I'll flex you buddy!!! but still tyring to work out if @duds was being obnoxious .. and if so just not interested in blah blah blah ...

BTW how's the London meet going - I've not received my airline ticket yet ... :-(

I had a dog once. Ooh, shiny thing! Sorry, I get distracted easily. Multi-what? Oh, womenfolk. Yes - should be more of them.

;)

@misschuff :D

S'going ok, need to shove the reminders right under peoples noses though. Task this weekend is to post a comment on every single potential attendee's every single photo, make sure they see the updates. Cuhh!

If women do outnumber men on this site it would make a rare change. Most of the photography sites I've visited and/or posted on are heavily dominated by men. Not in a bullying sense, just that there are many more male photographers on websites than female.
January 6th, 2011
@jools yahoo! Another who 'see's' it as it is ... like a say behind every successful man [tographer] is a even more successful wo-man. lol
January 6th, 2011
@jools I'm a member of two private forums (pro photogs) where the vast majority of the members are female. Honestly, I prefer it - there are very few ego issues and the guys who are there are like-minded. But in the public photography forums it's another matter entirely, and I don't really spend time in those anymore.
January 6th, 2011
@jinximages - I've only ever looked at and posted on public fora, all of which have had many more male members than female. Most of the men were very helpful and generous with passing on their knowledge and experience. Others, not so much.

Even getting out and about in The Real World, as they say, I see a lot more men with cameras. Doesn't bother me a bit, just noticed the preponderance of men.
January 6th, 2011
@jools Definitely a valid observation. I think it is changing though now, with so many MWAC's starting up their own businesses. But that's a particular segment of the industry I guess, and less "public" in a sense.
January 6th, 2011
I still learn a lot from those boards, @jinximages , I just tend not to post on them.
