Canon Peeps (In a bit of a Rut

January 3rd, 2011
Hey everybody, I just got a new Canon 7D for X-mas and really want to see what other Canon users have been able to create with their Canon's, especially if you shoot a Canon 7D. It's only my second, well officially 3rd (1:30A.M.) day here and am already kind of in a rut. So if you have a cool or creative Canon shot post it up to help inspire because Canon peeps ROCK! (no offense to everyone else, your just as cool too :p )

I've got a Canon 1000D, love it. All my photos are taken with it I have taken many over the last year... not on here obviously I am new here lol.. I've got some amazing effects from various photographs so it can be done.... macros are fun, I play a lot with my DOF with or without macro.... though I understand rut!

I'm a canon nut, I tried out a nikon when my sisters friend had one, just reconfirmed my canon devotion.

Sorry nikon users *hides*

Anyway, all my pics in my 365 (except a few cell posts!) are shot with canons. I have a 3 including the 30D (old I know :P) and sometimes borrow my husbands which is also a canon but just a P&S. Even have an old film rebel.

Don't really think which camera you use really makes much of a difference. More how you use it. I think the main thing I didn't like about the nikon dSLR I tried was I couldn't find how to use spot metering :S

Anyway welcome, hop you get out of your rut!

Grats on the 7D! Vikdaddy uses one and produces marvellous work. There are some others here with them too, but I'd have to go back through my contacts to work out which ones.

I use a 5D Mark II myself. :)

Elise DeCola and Amy Hughes have 7Ds too :)

Just seen your message @jinximages - thanks for the kind words!

7D here as well. Still learning the camera, need to program some custom settings. The EXIF data on photos from other members has been very helpful in getting out of shooting style ruts.

I have a Canon XTi and here are just some stuff I did with it;

Try some nature shots!

Or if you own any records do a silly shot this like:

Even take some photos with some toys you own

My favorite thing in a rut though is to just walk around and don't even think of looking in your view finder, just fire off shots holding your camera at your waist for something like this

Hope you get some ideas and out of your rut!

I have a 7D and i LOVE it!!! I've used Nikon in the past, a Fuji S3, and a Canon 20D and 50D before I got this one. I have to say that the 7D is my favorite of all, it's so easy to use and I have custom settings out the wazoo now. I'd never ever give it up! Love the video feature too, since I have a 2 year old. It's nice.
I"ll post some of my favorite shots, but feel free to look through my albums all you want, they are all done with the 7D. (I can't post all, it's like 150 pics or something!! lol)

Yesterday's pic: All I did was bump the saturation on picnik.

A fun silhouette, the only editing on this is the bokeh texture overlay and putting the pic in black and white.

Christmas time goodies

Straight off the camera: (sooc)

There's more, I don't want to keep going it's a little precocious somehow I think. Anyway, feel free to take a look! I'll add you now too!

I have a Canon 450D. Try doing some evening street photography. The bokeh from cars and lamps are amazing.

@indiannie_jones Thanks for the mention Annie! :)

And yes, I do use a 7D to take nearly all my pictures. I think the 7D produces great photos! I especially love doing portraits with my 50mm because they look the best. Here are a few examples of my favorites from my project so far that I've taken with my 7D.

I changed the coloring a bit and softened the shot, but other than that, this is hardly edited.

I softned this and uped the vibrance here

I can't remember doing much to this other than uping saturation

Changed to b&w. Nothing else changed

An example that really shows off DOF.

Hope these help slightly! I love the 7D! Have fun with it!

Of course, feel free to look through my project. There are many more examples of work from the 7D that might help you!
