Super simple question

January 5th, 2011
OK, this doesn't seem to be super simple for me. But I've noticed on some discussion on here that when people reply to each other they use the user name; like with me it would be @mrjuggles. Yet nowhere in the discussion is that noted, I see people's names and not user names, is that something in my settings. It makes it a little confusing to follow a thread, lol.
Do you normally click through to find out the account name (such as Mr Juggles) and use that, I would normally use the name displayed in the thread.
I really am a geek but this has thrown me a little..

@mrjuggles - Paul, I also find it very confusing because, if this thread were quite a bit longer by now, anyone reading my comment wouldn't know who I was replying to (except I've actually used your name). Sometimes it's obvious but others it's impossible to follow who's replying to whom.

@mrjuggles - and I meant to say that the @mrjuggles comes up automatically when you click on the reply link.

Hit reply...it plugs it in for you! And no question is that simple...bc we over think everything...thats what photogs do ha...welcome! :) @mrjuggles

I'd have known if I'd hit reply
*slaps forehead*
I'd have typed @brandy mills manually or something, what a numpty, lol.
Well, I now know.

@mrjuggles ...I didn't know that either...I've just been typing away! LOL.

Oh, I didn't notice a reply link, haha! I just hover over the link to the person's profile; that will pop up their username, and you can also see it at the bottom of your browser window where it displays the URL the link points to.

@mrjuggles Haha I didn't notice the reply button either!
January 5th, 2011
@mrjuggles - thanks... as I too would have sat here and typed @mrjuggles... so makes sense now.. :-)
January 5th, 2011
I'd be more likely to have typed @ Paul Naylor. I'm not sure I see the advantage in having two ways of being 'known', if that makes any sense.

and by using the reply link it gives you a notification up at the top of your nome page that someone has left you a comment of mentioned you in a comment

I have brought this up before... and some of us have added our user names behind our regular names... see mine...
January 5th, 2011
@icywarm - now THAT makes perfect sense. At least if someone replies to icywarm, others know who is meant by that.
January 5th, 2011
@mrjuggles Don't feel bad. I typed out all of the names for several weeks before I noticed that handy little reply button!!
January 5th, 2011
@mrjuggles . thanks for the great question. I just usesd the reply button for the first time because of this thread!:)
January 5th, 2011
@mrjuggles I didn't know either, but I don't use Twitter so it was really completely foreign to me.

thank god I looked around, I was about to say equally how hard it was to track comments and follow discussions, then I found the speech bubble at the top. I'm getting like my son looking for his school shoes, I'm not looking hard enough, lol

@mrjuggles I'm glad you asked! I was wondering this myself and get very confused trying to follow threads. I never noticed there was a reply button. Makes me wonder what else there is to discover about this site.
