I've been working on my website and had originally thought I was going to go with RedCart for my online album viewing and print purchasing. However, business has been really slow these last couple of months, so I just can't seem to justify spending $100 a month to use their service when I'm not generating enough income to cover the expense. For the last 8 months I've been using Photo Reflect. It's easy for me upload images, set up packages and ala cart pricing, but they charge me a monthly fee on top of taking 15% of all my sales. Plus, I'm wanting to change print labs to White House Colour, and I can't do so through Photo Reflect.
Any suggestions on a more afforadable shopping cart host, or am I stuck until I want to fork over the cash?
I am not well versed in this, so here is what I do know...
I use Bay Photo, via Smug Mug. They deal with it all, everything. Website, sales, color matching, printing, shipping, image storage, etc, etc, etc. $150 per year.
Also, and I haven't used it, there is Etsy.
And that is the end of my knowledge in this arena. Good luck!
I use SmugMug Pro for hosting my photo site and also any sales. Just an annual fee (which you can find awesome coupons for when you initially register), and 15% of sales (so you just markup it up that much more). Now, I've only used them for digital downloads as I don't want to upload full res stuff for printing, but haven't had a single issue.
