I'm hoping a fellow Lightroom user can help me with a problem I've been having. Frequently when I open the application, it attempts to load, beeps at me once, and then closes spontaneously. No error message. When I reboot my computer, it loads just fine.
Unfortunately, I generally only get one use out of it before I have to reboot -- I use Lightroom and shut it down, and the next time I want to use it, problems abound.
Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution? If I reinstall the application, will my catalog still be there, or do I need to back it up to an external drive first?
I'd really appreciate any thoughts you all might have.
I've had to reinstall and the cat was all still there (removing the program doesn't remove the LRCAT files). Still, make a backup of them just in case. Do you have the latest version of your LR?
@ashleyjwilson 2.7 was a stable version for me. Maybe you do need a reinstall. There could be a conflict somewhere too - I had problems with an OEM version of some anti-virus software once (I think it was Norton) crashing both LR and PS.
