Australia and New Zealand

January 6th, 2011
So now it is official. I will be traveling to Australia and New Zealand in late February and early March. Specifically I will be visiting 4 friends (all of whom I met on the internet and some have visited me) in New South Wales. I will be in Australia Feb 22 through March 7. Starting in Sydney, I plan to visit Terrigal, Wingham, Bungendore.

In New Zealand I will be traveling with a New Mexico friend and we are going from Auckland to Christchurch by train, doing lots of sight seeing. (and I hope bird watching). We will spend a day in Hamilton visiting another one of my internet friends.

Just so you know, Cook Straight is in the middle of the NZ trip and you will be on the inter island ferry. Get sea sick drugs if you need them as it can be ROUGH!

Lucky you..Just make sure you take a lot of pictures.

Have a wonderful time Susan!
I'm about 3 hours 'up the road' from Wingham - you're visiting a beautiful part of Australia and at a great time seasonally.
Cheers,
Tasha

Hi Susan: Am only an hour or so away from Wingham so maybe you can make the time to come up and visit the Little Bay kangaroos in person! Would love to take you there if you have the time. Send me your email address if you'd like to meet up and we can arrange something.

Otherwise: bring a wind breaker for wellington: its windy here...

@sempynz We will only be in Wellington from 7 PM to 8 AM so I will just wave as we pass you. Thanks for the windbreaker advice.

I am from Christchurch - don't be alarmed when you feel a little shaking - we are still experiencing aftershocks and they are nothing to worry about.

Lots of photo ops here! (c:

@nzgeekgirl I have to agree that the Hamilton Gardens is a beautiful place, I spent a month travelling around NZ a few years a go and we spent 4 or 5 days in Hamilton (my travelling partner had family there), when I researched the trip I didn't find much on Hamilton but it is beautiful...
