Yes I agree, plus if you're trying to find a discussion thread that you've only read and not posted in it's time consuming having to search through for it.
I definitely agree. There was a discussion up about this last week, and @jinx was going to ask Ross (the owner) if we could also find a way to "mark" discussions that were of interest to us, so we don't have to go back all the way through the list to find them again. Some of the discussions have some really great technical help in them. To you newbies, Jinx is one of a handful of people whose name you will often see on the discussion boards giving out great advice!!
It would be really useful,especially nowadays,when so many pointless ("hey look at me I`m new") discussions appear and it`s hard to look up even some that are just a few days old.
@petersonsheri
Yep,I joined in October and things were...calmer.Now,with all the newbie-overflow,everyone`s like "check me out,critique me,I`m new!!"
I hope I`m not the only one who thinks that.If I am,then I guess I`m just going to look like a rude jerk.
I just think that IF YOU WANT FEEDBACK,YOU GOTTA GIVE SOME FEEDBACK.
@spaceman No, I doubt you're the only one. You need to play the "game" and build up your own community. I would feel embarrassed to say "look at me, look at me". To each their own, but I've definitely stopped clicking on those discussions.
@spaceman I agree, feedback to get feedback. I get kind of tired of those too--and I don't mean to sound rude either, but geez, over 1000 new people for 2011 and waving a huge, "Look at me, am I any good?" flag like that just seems a bit strange. It's a very passive way to get Followers, I guess.
And I agree with the Discussion search too--it would be extremely helpful.
@spaceman ughhhhh I'M SORRY!!!! hahaha at least it didn't take that long on the discussion board... hahaha why did i ever do that? what was i thinking?! HAHAHHAHAHAHA my face is red... LOL
@spaceman = I have quite a different reaction to those...
I have assumed that those people really would like some critique, i.e. Criticism or specific Advice on how to improve their photography... but almost everyone on the 365 site is so supportive the ~critique~ is merely general encouragement like "Keep up the good work!" "I looked at your photos, they are great!" "Don't worry about other people, just take pictures you love" etc. That is nice, but not very helpful (IMO).
However, I realize that people might be coming from all sorts of different (emotional/cognitive/experience) places and have different needs and expectations. Many people like the supportive atmosphere. What, I am thinking people shoudlld endeavor to have *less* civil discourse?! ;->
