I am seriously jonesing for a camera upgrade after seeing all the beautiful work that people have posted here. My 2 year old Canon SX10 has served me well, but I am looking for wider ranges on the shutter speeds, more aperture range, and higher clarity/res.
The challenge: my credit card bill is already fat from Christmas bills, so I am a little light on cash.
I would love to see if I can pick up someone else's well loved trade-in, but I don't know any reputable sources. I also don't know if in the digital world used gear is worth looking into.
Any info/sites you have would be awesome. My bank account thanks you.
Granted, you have to be an established member, but it's a huge Canon (and some other stuff) marketplace. In fact, I just bought a $1,200 used lens from somebody there and have bought another lens and other stuff there in the past.
You have to be a little careful when buying used stuff online like this, but if you're careful and buy from reputable people with positive feedback it's better than taking your chances on eBay or Craigslist IMO.
I've had really good luck with ebay and craigslist. I buy and sell used gear all the time. You just have to learn to recognize scammers. Only deal locally with craigslist.
I've bought used gear from B&H's used store. Nice reputable company, and if you happen to get something that is broken, they have no issue taking it back.
