To those Panasonic/Lumix Owners out there:

Want your input on your experience with your Panasonic/Lumix camera.

After MUCH research and consternation, I decided to upgrade my P&S Canon 10MP SX10 Zoom X20, with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ100 14.1 MP Zoom X24 from Amazon. I chose them for their return policy - otherwise I would have gone with Adorama.

I am a bit of a clutz, and the thought of going to a DSLR, just wasn't for me (&my budget) in the end. I am also a chronic zoomer, so the thought of having the permanently attached optics that I would need was appealing. I will never be without that capability when I pick up the camera. Size was also an issue.

My question is - the new Panasonic is arriving on a trial basis only. It has a Leica DC Vario-ELMARIT lens, which I thought would be good. I will be using it in Manual mode most of the time. I read all the reviews, but I am very interested in hearing what you have to say about your experience with your Panasonic/Lumix camera.

Love to hear your thoughts!

i mix between a P&S DMC-TZ10 and a DSLR G1. I find the P&S excellent for macro shots - handy when you are out and about and see something cool. The exposure time settings are not great on this but good night time shots are possible. Prefer the Lumix G1 for this. Both have excellent facilities for auto and manual settings. The TZ10 far outstrips any other P&S i've had for manual functionality. I'm happy enough and won't think about changing for a while yet!!

HJ ~ I love, love, love my Lumix DMC FZ-35!!! I find myself using it much more often than my Nikon DSLR. I think you're going to love your new camera. My daughter got the very same model that you have for Christmas...and she loves it.

I absolutely love my Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ100. The colors are vibrant and the pictures are clear. The 24x zoom feature is very handy - although, I never actually use it all the way and the pictures tend to be a bit grainy at 24x. If you're concerned about size, well, it's really not that convenient in size. It's the size of an actual DSLR. Also, the free angle LCD screen is amazing! That's one of the reasons I bought this camera. It's really handy if you lift your camera high to take a shot or if it's in an angle that makes it hard to see your screen.
Overall, it's a great camera for a hobbyist who is inclined to learn more.

I LOVE the zoom (18X) on mine (DMC-FZ28)! Use it all the time. It's especially good at decreasing your depth of field. The macro is fairly good, too, but does require manual focus. I think you are really going to like it. Almost all of my photos on this project were taken with mine. http://365project.org/roejan/365
Have fun! :-)

I have a bridge one but can't remember model number, it's one of the earlier ones. I absolutely love it. I also have a p&s fs3 for out and about where I'm worried about taking a bigger camera. I can't fault panasonic at all even though I bought a canon DSLR.
