So obviously I am a newbie and I honestly don't understand how they are chosen...? So I was just curious as to how they were selected? I haven't been so active in the past few days thanks to migraine and work. But I have been looking at some of the wonderful photography that has been taken by some of you guys! =) So, anywhoo...Also could I start a contest type thing....(not that I have plans on doing so right now...just curious as to if so.) =) Thanks everyone!

Photos that you see on the popular page are chosen somewhat mysteriously. It seems like the "photo monkeys" that choose them use a random combination of views, comments, and favs that your photo gets after you first post it. As far as starting a contest type thing, there is really just the weekly theme contest that the site creator, Ross, handles. But if you have a certain contest in mind, you could always post something on the discussion boards and see what kind of feedback you get. Hope all this helps!
I'm glad you asked that. I was wondering about the other day myself since one of mine ended up there. It made me feel like I just climbed a mountain or something...lol. Such a sense of accomplishment. As for the contest. People have been putting little things up on the side to do. You never know what you will get in terms of responses.
The magic photo gorillas..uhh.. monkeys chose the photos that make it to the PP.The legend says they are hard to please,even harder to please then the guy who choses the final 5 photos for the theme-competition.
