Dust in my Canon :(

January 26th, 2011
I have just got my camera out to shoot some seagulls and i noticed that there is a lot of dust in the view finder, so i took the lens off and it was still there :( I have tried using the sensor clean on the camera but it is still there. I am not sure what to do, can anyone help.

Thanks

I'm not sure but when my friend got dust on his Canon's sensor, the only way to get it fixed was to send it to Canon, they use some kind of special stuff to get it removed. They charged him a lot here but it was as good as new.
Hope that helped.

Mine is the same and when the kids go back at school I am going to drop it into Canon for cleaning. It is going to kill me to be without my camera!! I had a friend who cleaned his but the things he needed to but to do it properly were expensive and I would rather have it done properly. I would hate to damage my camera.

@slmatntwi Thanks for the reply. I have been reading that it could be dust on the mirror. I have taken some test shots of a white board and there is no signs of the dust on the photo. I think the mirrors need a clean. (well i hope it is just that).

You could try a rocket blower or if you are willing to risk it a sensor swab.. I use to clean my old 20d with sensor swabs and it worked great. Or you can just clone stamp or patch tool the spots in photoshop..

Thanks for the replys! I contacted the shop that the camera came from, and they said take it in to them and they would do a little demonstration on how to clean it out. They also said that it does sounds like the dust is on the mirrors and it is relatively easy to clean. A big sigh of relief!!!

another vote for the rocket blower. I had the same issue, used wipes, used anti static wipes. Finally I got the blower and after a few shots of it, no more dust left
