Sigma Lens Advice Needed

January 29th, 2011
I have a Sigma APO Macro Super 70 - 300mm 1:4 - 5.6 Lens which I used to use on My Minolta Dynax 300si 35mm Film SLR I was wondering if anyone knows if this Sigma Lens would fit on a DSLR because one day not sure when could be a good few years yet I'd like a DSLR.

Thanks in advance :)

I would imagine it would fit the Sony range of DSLRs, but I have heard of compatibility issues with some 3rd party lenses, so it might have to go back to Sigma to be rechipped. Or something like that.
I would suggest that you're better off picking the camera based on what's best for you, rather than trying to match it to an old lens - Warehouse Express have a very similar sounding lens for only £177 http://www.warehouseexpress.com/buy-sigma-70-300mm-f4-5-6-apo-macro-super-dg-lens-sony-minolta-fit/p1011618
Hope this helps!

@sburbidge That Lens looks simular, Slightly shorted and Mine is Gold where that one is Red, It just seems a shame to waste the Lens but I get what You mean about picking a Camera rather than trying to find one that takes the Lens, Im wondering if anywhere takes in Cameras and Len's and give You money towards a new one. Have You used Warehouse Express before, I came across them online and see they were local but never actually used them.

I've used them extensively, (but don't tell the wife how extensively!) both at their store in Norwich, and online. They are simply superb, I can't recommend them highly enough - and if you want to get hands on, a trip to their shop is a must.
You could always try eBay to sell the lens - you'd probably get more for it that way than as a trade in.
