Yesterday my laptop committed suicide... currently borrowing a friends to get on here and check in. I am off to go try and find a new one but till then no photos :(

Just to add I feel like my right hand has been cut off and I have no idea if I can recover my photos or not. Feeling very distraught over that possibility

I recently lost EVERYTHING off my harddrive... managed to get a guy to after days and days of working on it recover everything (at a big price!)

hope you can do the same (but at a lesser cost!)

I understand exactly. My old laptop died last year and it has all mypictures on it. Still trying to figure out a way to get them off. The problem is that it has a password on and no one seems to know what it is. My son put it on there when he was using it.

I am sure that if your hard drive is not damaged you can "read" it somehow. Good luck. I hope you pictures are safe.

Oh no! sorry to hear that - if your hard drive isnt the cause of the laptop breaking down you should be able to transfer your information to another drive using a hard drive enclosure, hope you sort it out!

@redkite im sure you can buy password recovery software, i'd go to your local pc store and speak with them

thank you all so much :) Well officially typing off a new laptop =) So we are on the road to being back up and running. Also have an IT friend who is prepared to recover the lost data off the old laptop in exchange for a photo shoot of his little boy :) AND... they say things come in threes... I made it to the second stage of interviews for the photographers job
