Many in the north of Queensland still don't have Internet access and many won't have power one for some time yet, so if they are in that region, they are out of range for a while.
The bush fires are in Perth, Western Australia, but there is currently flash flooding in Melbourne and South Australia, and Southern NSW...plus the clean up from the flooding and cyclone Yasi are still happening, alot of homes still dont have power or running water. Im not sure what part of Australia those 2 are...
The first lot of floods were in Queensland and northern NSW followed by Victoria then there was Cyclone Yasi in northern Queensland then the week of extreme heat in Sydney and now there are bushfires are in Perth and flooding in Melbourne, southern NSW and South Australia. It hasn't been a good 2011 in Australia so far.
im in victoria but the floods missed our town luckily. the town next to us got hit pretty hard apparently. so its weird knowing how close we were to it. hopefully everyone on 365 affected by any natural disasters in australia are ok!!
@laceyjogautreau@tamallamma I know that Jinx lives where I am, and he might not have power as yet, as we lost power to our homes with the cyclone, no fires here though, they must be down south.. everything bad is happening this year. :-(
@kjarn Pretty much covered it all. Jinx is in QLD and from what he said last the Cyclone was supposed to pass them so their house should be fine. They might just have no power. Their was 1 death and from what I know there were no serious injuries reported so Jinx, Koshi and the other QLD'ers should be fine safety wise.
I used to live in Perth and my parents still do but luckily they're nearer to the beach so are fine. Still, my condolences to all those who've been affected by the fire. Luckily, aussie fire fighters are the best in the world so if anyone can do the job, its those guys.
It is crazy that on opposite sides of the continent we've got the two extremes.
I have friends and colleagues who have lost everything in the fires in Roleystone, Perth, so far 63 homes have been destroyed and another 30 + badly damaged.
The fires are now under control but still there is the risk that the winds will change and it could start again.
I am very fortunate that I live nearer the city but my prayers are with all who are affected.
I have family that live in Perth, and Vic. So I get up everyday and get online to see what other disaster has hit Oz at the moment!! Bloody crazy it what it is!!

I think that about every natural disaster that could hit Australia HAS hit Australia. Mother nature needs to STOP!! Thoughts and (((hugs))) go out to all of our Aussie friends.
Hey troops - thanks for the shout out! Power returned today having been out for the last 7 days ... We're all fine though :) Water damage in the room under our house - jinx's temporary studio and partly my office ...
We have been very lucky (although I don't want to go almost a week without power with two kids under 3 ever again!) ... 150kms north of us was not so lucky though ... pretty much annihilated :(
Thanks everyone for your thoughts! As Koshi said, we got through ok - only minor damage (in the scheme of things) with the studio ceiling ruined and our front fence busted up a bit. It's nice to have the electricity back on after a week without it! I'm busy playing catch-up on all sorts of things (photo orders, weddings coming up etc) so it will be a few more days before I start posting photos again. I've missed everyone here, and look forward to going through everyone's photos for the past couple of weeks.
