Just wondering if anyone knows how your top rated photos are picked? It doesn't seem to be in order by number of views, comments or favs. I am a little confused lol. Still confused about those monkeys too! :)
@AshleyMiller There was a thread on this maybe last two weeks? If I remember there is an algorithm that measures all of what you just mentioned, and also a way to "weigh" the photos in such a way that the newer folks have a shot of getting their inmages in, as well as those who have been posting for awhile.
@Scrivna - Yes this is a common thread but its usually asking about the PP page and most people answer with that in mind. I see that @AshleyMiller is actually asking about her own stats. and its something I've also been wondering.
Last 24 hours is listed in order of views, last 7 days is listed in order of views but the 10 Top Rated photos are not listed in order of views, comments or faves so how are they rated?

@AshleyMiller it's a combination of factors, using just one metric would be too easy to "scam" and those with more followers would always beat newer people so it uses a bit of math and a few things we measure "in the background" to work out a score and they are ordered by that, it is the same score that decides if you should be on the Popular page or new faces page too, it's quite versatile and I'm always tweaking it to find the best photos.

@Scrivna I am not sure how that applies to 'your top rated photo's' section in my own stats section tho - surely that should be straight forward and nowt to do with the amount of followers? My number 1 top rated photo has 221 views, 58 comments and 21 favs. But I have another photo which is listed at number 3 with 544 views, 81 comments and 70 favs, another listed at number 5 with 239 views, 60 comments and 24 favs.... it goes on!! How does this work? Am not too bothered but the math doesnt add up! ;-)
@blightygal the math does add up if you know what the math is adding up, i'm not saying it's perfect, it is what it is, what if you have a picture with 1000 comments, should that be #1, what if 900 of those comments come from the same person, is it still relevant?
@Scrivna Oh fair enough. I thought you said once that comments and page views were only counted once by each person. Its okay, its not important, I was just wondering, esp as the pics used to be in the correct order. Its all fun!!
