Been uploading some pics to flickr but after they have uploaded some of the images aren't showing. Are they just taking time or is there a problem, do you know?
Flickr can be slow but you can download the Flickr uploadr to make it faster plus as @jasonbarnette said there is a limit to your uploads if you are using a free account.
Right. Flickr is free, but after 200 uploads your older pictures "disappear" from your photostream. They are still there and links to them will still work, but you can't get to them from your flickr page or make changes after that without upgrading. Once you upgrade all of the stuff that seemed to vanish instantly becomes visible again.
IMO, it's worth every penny because you get to upload original full-sized images if you want, it automatically creates various sized thumbnails for you so you can post on other sites, and there's a huge community for sharing images, getting comments and critiques, etc.
Just like becoming a paying member here, if I can drop far more than 20 bucks on a single night out which is basically throwing money away, I can get a lot more for my money paying for a quality service.
I am with Roxanne, I love Flickr so many groups and projects and contests (not for prizes just fun) . so many creativity boosting opportunities. As Jeremy mentioned not much storage with the free account and only 100MB per month so if your uploading large files anything after 100MB won't show. On the upload screen it should say at the top how much space is left for the month. The upgrade is well worth it. I am now involved in three groups that issue challenges some daily some over the course of the year. Daily shoot which is followed on twitter is one, then there is one with a list of 111 words to make photos of in 2011. and of course my 365 project. I never would have even know about 365 if it was not for Flickr. It has opened up my photographic world in ways I could not have imagined. I would recommend the upgrade and find a few groups or projects of interest and participate it's great fun and learning.
I've used several different free sites but switched to Flickr a few years ago. I pay for 2 years at a a time which is a discount but I can't recall how much. No problem uploading. I use their 'badges' on my blog which shuffles the photos I've chosen to display on it. I also order prints through Snapfish which is connected to Flickr - good prices and very fast delivery.
Thanks Guys. I'm still clueless with flickr. I started using it over a year ago but only uploaded a couple of photos then didn't bother after that but decided the other day I wanted somewhere to show my other photos which I can't add on here and photos which I think are ok that I've taken from the past.
I do only have the free account but I've only used about 56% of it so far. After leaving a while the photos showed up, just seemed to take ages. I thought they weren't uploading properly as they were showing blank but they're ok now. After I've used up my free account I'll consider paying for it then

No, I'm not employed by Flickr, just like them!
