why do good photographers stop posting?

February 11th, 2011
I just found this guy @photolizard and really like his photos. Am hoping that he will post some more soon but how many new members that are good do you think give up and why?

Life gets in the way, sometimes. I've seen loads of people come and go and while it's sad, you have to do what you have to do.

@indiannie_jones i guess so it just seems such a shame :(
February 11th, 2011
It does :( we don't always know what's going on in their lives though... everyone has their own stuff going on, ya know?
February 11th, 2011
@indiannie_jones I agree that we don't know whats going on in peoples lives but the community here is so friendly that I hope if life side swipped me for a week, a month or more that i would feel like i could jump back into the project without waiting the whole year :D

It's extremely difficult (and sometimes time-consuming) to maintain a level or creativity every single day. People come and go
February 11th, 2011
@clarissajohal I agree. What made me ask was that i have been trawling through different images at random to find people that are doing things that i find interesting and kept coming across people that posted maybe 7-8 pics at different points and then just stopped - many of them were in 2008,2009 etc... then i came across the one i mentioned at the top and just started wondering if he was another good photographer that was gone already and it made me quite sad.
Anyway as both you and Annie have pointed out sometimes life gets in the way...

Adams said something like 3 or 4 meaningful images in a year is a good year. So doing 365 is tough, many post their 'fav' images in the first few years and after that they don't want to post anything sub-par so they post nothing instead...

@indiannie_jones - wow, I just realized how many people I followed/followed me that are no longer here.
February 11th, 2011
@crappysailor I don't remember the utility exactly but there was something out there that you could run to see how many people you are following or had following you that are active. Some of the posts had 50% or more gone.

@cazink @crappysailor I found this link in another discussion from a while ago, i don't know if it will help but it is interesting. @eyebrows is a genius.

@crappysailor I know, right?
February 11th, 2011
@indiannie_jones - haha, seriously. People I looked forward to hearing from/seeing their stuff. I think you might be one of my only original "homies" left. :-P And I only know its you because you haven't changed your profile photo is like......6 weeks? :0

@all71s @autumnseden - thank you both. I vaguely remember this being posted. I will check it out.
February 11th, 2011
@crappysailor HAHAHAHA I should hope that you would still recognize me if I did though :P especially considering my name isn't all that common (the last name, at least)

In related news: 3,000 fewer photos posted on February 1st 2011 than on January 1st.
