Macro Mode on Olympus SP 600 UZ

I added a Water Shot Yesterday, I wasn't impressed but it was getting late and I still had School Uniforms, Packed Lunches etc etc to sort, I use Macro a lot but lately I can't seem to get many clear crisp Photos in Macro Mode, Im guessing its because I dont have a steady enough hand. I have Carpal Tunnel and Inflamed Shoulder Joints which is worse in Right Hand and Im Right Handed so I guess that doesn't help with Me being steady. I see so many Water Shots that look so crisp and clear and feel like mine aren't worth adding, Ive dropped the Camera a couple of times recently... Oops Clumsy Me, Im hoping thats not anything to do with it, Anyone else have this Camera and if so any simular problems or is it just Me ?

Have had similar problems with the macro mode on my p&s. Generally can be solved by adding light, so the camera can use a faster shutter speed - less motion blur. If you can, shot outside or by a window. I sometimes use a daylight lamp I have to add light too.

Also, you can buy mini tripods for very little (sometimes in pound shops!), which may help. Then use a timer photo to reduce the shake from pressing the shutter. I used to use mine very regularly.

Lisa, I use a similar camera - an Olympus C765 UZ and I love the macro mode. What I usually do is try to get something I can rest it on, whether it's my tripod, a box, a book, whatever. I've never attempted the water drop shot with it, but with other macros, I just rest it on something, then vary the distance from the object until I get the focus I'm wanting.

I do have a Mini Tripod.... somewhere, I have a normal one and monopod but they are a bit bulky to carry about when Im have 4 Little Ones in tow. I seem to find the Water Shots hardest, Managed a Candle the other night which I was actually pleased with but I was resting on the floor which helped.

I have an Olympus SP-800UZ. I am finding that I switch back and forth between the settings. I do not always like the setting for a particular situation. You might try that. I have a mini tripod, which I have not tried yet. I think that is something I need to do. I have rested my camera and my arms and my body on various objects to help steady myself. That has really helped. I also am trying to let my breath out during a shot and that is helping. I tend to take a deep breath and hold it. That makes my camera shake.

@lisahutchinson I had the 560, a lot of the time the shutter speed on macro and super macro is way down, however the depth of field on super macro especially is very short, so the smallest changes after focusing can make a massive difference.

I took to putting something under the camera and pressing it down a little before composing to help keep steady, though my hands are steady the UZ range are way too light to easily hold still.
