I have been sporadic about posting on 365 lately for many reasons. But among other things I have been up to, I have put together a website to start selling my photography.
Right now, this is on a very small scale, and I probably haven't given it the time I should but I have made several sales -- mostly cards and some prints. However, I just sold my first ever 20"x24" gallery wrap for someone to hang in their newly renovated kitchen!
Really, I just think of myself as someone who loves to take pictures, so the fact that anyone wants to hang one of them in their home is HUGE for me. They even asked me to sign it!
I wanted to share this with the 365 community, because you all have been a huge inspiration to me. I know there are many many talented photographers out there who have had family and friends tell you that you should sell your work, but you just haven't taken that next step. I just wanted to send you a little encouragement!
I've attached a picture of the finished gallery wrap, and here's a link to my website/blog if you are interested. Good luck to all of you who are thinking of doing something similar. It's a great feeling when someone wants to pay you to do something you love. : )
Cristen, I think that is fabulous. I remember when I did my very first paid shoot. They ordered a 16x24 to go in their living room. That feeling is amazing! I wish you much success in the future. Your photos are fabulous!!
This is wonderful!!!!! Congrats to you! Such an inspiration, I want to sell my work so badly...look how fabulous this looks on a wall! It gives me a bit more drive to do so!
Congratulations too. Very inspiring and encouraging? same with Katherine, love to know what do you use to print your work? i would love to sell may work too but don't know how to . Thanks @cristenfarrell
@mizikei@blueburn11 I use a lab near me for printing... I really like having a relationship with the people there and know that they will help make sure everything is great quality. It also saves extra shipping costs to be able to pick things up in person. That said, I know people who use MPIX Pro -- they do gallery wraps as well. They also have a really wide selection of products and printing methods, so I may try them in the future.
For my cards, I looked into various ways to print -- but I am SO small time right now, the cheapest and easiest at the moment is to make a 4x6 print of a photo and affix it to nice card stock. If I start selling more, I may look into printing the cards, or buying an archival inkjet printer (which is what many on Etsy seem to have). I did find great inexpensive sleeves for the cards (as well as mats for prints) at Clearbags . Just putting a card into one of those little sleeves makes it look really professional.
Let me know if I can answer any more questions for you. Happy to help.
Congratulations!! You've inspired me that is for sure. I'm one of those whose family tells them to sell their stuff...I just haven't taken that plunge yet.
What do you use to print your work? Do you do it yourself or get it done elsewhere?

Thanks everyone for your kind words. Definitely a confidence booster to know someone likes my work enough to buy it... Hoping to keep it going!
That's a fantastic photo too!
