I started out this photography lark only at christmas time with my brand new canon eos and 18-55mm kit lens. I rapidly wanted more and for my birthday this week my husband got me the 50mm f1.8 lens that i wanted for the improved portrait shots i hoped to get.
Guess what? now I want a zoom lol
I got some money for my birthday from some family and so was thinking about getting the EF-S55-250 4-5.6 IS as a starter in zoom photography. I know it is at the cheaper end of the spectrum but it seems to have some good reviews and I really won't be able to invest any more money than this to get me started.
Does anyone use this lens? opinion? any advice is much appreciated as I am aiming to use this to round out my little collection of glass for the next couple of years...at which time if i have stuck with it I am hoping to invest in some more high spec things.
I have it and it's my favourite lens!! It does great long distance photography and also wonderful macro. i have taken some amazing moon photos with it also.
@cazink I bought that lens at the same time as I bought my camera and kit lens based on some recommendations from friends. Sadly, I've not had much chance to practice with either the camera or the lens yet so can't really comment myself. @nikkidee Wow, love your moon shot, really pleased to read that was possible with the lens I have :o) x
@nikkidee@xddx thanks for your input. Also Nikki so glad to see what the lens is capable of especially since i bit the bullet and ordered it about an hour ago :D
