obsessions

February 21st, 2011

is there any particular thing that you have kind of an obsession for photographing ? something you go back to if you are stuck for ideas ?

with me its water or any liquid really ! bad or uninspired day = water for me ! (which i fell back on again today ! )

so do you have a secret (or not so secret) obsession ?

why do i have a feeling food may feature here ? hehe !

my kids....who i am sure curse when the camera gets directed at them! lol.

MY babies, mostly, but I used to teach and work with children, so really kids and babies in general.
I am obsessed with food, but not photographing it :-)

The moon and my cats are usually obsessions for me especially if im stuck for ideas! the moon however doesn't always co operate as i found out recently - its been cloudy for about 4 days so no moon to capture!

I love flowers and my cat! I'll always love them, but I'm really trying to limit my photos of them to once a week so I'm forced to look at other things to photograph.

Self portraits.... I'm always afraid that makes me vain.... but I always just think they're the best way to show the emotion of the day.

@beckyburton hmmmm i could say the kids too ! but they arent overly co-operative lol !

Usually All of My Photos are of My Children so Im trying to do My 365 of Random Objects mainly but I keep thinking maybe its time to see if 1 out of 4 Children will pose, I may need to have some Sweets ready though, Ive tried Water but not had much sucess, I have taken an interest in Candles and Matches, I quite like Flowers but so far the only Flowers I've Photographed have been some made from Icing and some made from Wood, Roll on Spring/Summer so I can Photograph some real ones.

sunsets, flowers esp roses and trees...oh yes and the view from the top of a mountain... those have been my steadies for the past twenty-five years...
February 21st, 2011
Animals, which sadly I don't have many of here at college. I;m home on break next week so expect a lot of dog and cat shots!
February 21st, 2011
If I'm stuck I do macro shots, love how I can get macro from every day objects

Food! :) I love to photograph food. Its ridiculous how much I have stored. I'm *trying* to not really do it in 365 but alas I have... well a few times! :)

Flowers. In Southern California, you can have a flower blooming every day of the year. It's not too hard to find something blooming in the neighborhood if I become stuck for ideas.
February 21st, 2011
I do lots of Macro Shots, I probably bore People with them but always so pushed for time .
February 21st, 2011
Lately my daughter has either been in or prompted my pictures.
February 21st, 2011
My kids, but when all else fails, I go for old run down farm equipment and buildings. I guess it's because there are plenty of those around. On the other hand, I have photographed so many farm topics lately, I'm pretty sick of those. I know once summer hits, the gang will see loads of my kiddos! :0)
February 21st, 2011
Anything to do with the beach but in reality if I'm uninspired its too late to go down there so I have to grab something from the house.
February 21st, 2011
Bugs. I hate that they're not around this time of year because I find that they make really interesting subjects. I'm not fond of them around me but hiding behind a camera makes a HUGE difference!
February 21st, 2011
Sunsets. I am seriously frustrated if I miss one due to work hours or overcast skies.
February 21st, 2011
stupid water drops... lol and my own shots, I don't get as much comments as I would like and pulling my hair out to figure out what is pleasing to others even when I try to copycat other people amazing shots... not much comments = not much feedback to fall back on and improve

@eliserose781 Me too! I fall back on selfies. One reason I started here was to take pictures of myself so I can look back when I'm 80 and remember what I looked like. A friend who shares my birthday and is 10 years older told me this year on our birthday, you are so young. At 35 I don't feel that way but I imagine she's pretty right. 35 is the new 25. haha If I get in a pinch, I'm always available.....haha

The lake. I almost went today.
February 21st, 2011
My cats or the sky....
February 21st, 2011
OMG, Hillary, you stole my answer! :-)
February 21st, 2011
My kids, my dog and my friends kids. They all get tormented with my camera.
February 22nd, 2011
My dog, except it's really difficult to take a good picture of her since she's camera-shy.
February 22nd, 2011
Flowers for me...and in the summer I obsess over butterflies!
February 22nd, 2011
Hands and feet -- of my children primarily. I pretty much just have to take the "hand" photo to get it out of my system each day!
February 22nd, 2011
I'd say my son for sure....but also selfies apparently! :) and butterflies. :D
February 22nd, 2011
Definitely my kids. They are always here and always doing something awesome (or ridiculous, but awesome) :)
February 22nd, 2011
my cat for sure!!!! He is so photogenic! When I am driving, I always want to stop and take photos of pretty trees though.
February 22nd, 2011
My daughter. She is always doing something silly or cute that is worthy of a photo.
February 22nd, 2011
Trees. Always trees.
February 22nd, 2011
@clarissajohal my husband @dcr could have written that EXACT same thing. Exact same. He gets annoyed when its not a "buggy" time of year!!

as for me the kids are always a good subject! however i did become obsessed with soda water recently...

@kirsty1975 Me too!
February 22nd, 2011
anything related to baseball.
February 22nd, 2011
flowers, macro, macro flowers... & trees.
February 22nd, 2011
my animals....if i am zapped of inspiration or time, i just stalk one of my animals for a shot :)
February 22nd, 2011
my obsession is taking the ordinary especially light and tapping into my imagination to draw out the fantasy in it...I love light/ lighting effects...and I will take a photo that I think is good but my mind will say lets make it better...a lot of my edits start with a great photo and then the creativity takes over...my musical influence tends to gear towards art that would be at home on a record sleeve...
February 22nd, 2011
Colour isolation! It makes normal pictures so much more interesting. Unfortunately my new camera can't do it and Picasa isn't very flexible with it so maybe there will be less of those for me. Maybe I'll find a new obsession ;). I wish I had a pet to obsess about!
February 22nd, 2011
@clarissajohal @sam_cr

Yep definately bugs for me!! That and weather. But there has been much interesting weather wise this summer. I figure I've only got around another two months of bug season then I'm going to have to get creative.

I'm hoping for some big swells in winter to get some more surfing pics actually.
February 22nd, 2011
Um, Er, Oh! Sweets ;-0
February 22nd, 2011
@dcr @sam_cr if my kiddos weren't camera shy... (:
And if I lived close to the beach--yes! I would be opting for beach shots over bug shots for sure!
February 22nd, 2011
it would have to be trees for me, love them and so many to choose from
February 22nd, 2011
Ah yes, caterpillars/butterflies in the summer since I raise them and water drops in the winter since there are no butterflies.
