Wanting a new camera...

February 24th, 2011
I'm wanting a new camera, but I have no idea what I would get, or where I'd even start looking!!

A point and shoot is good for me. I take photos to document days out / trips etc. And for playing around with etc.

I don't have *too* much money spare...

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations?

I currently have an Olympus Mju Mini.

Thanks in advance. I know I'm asking a lot!

Don't know that I have any suggestions for you, but you might want to say what price range as that will make a difference.

The point and shoot I have is the Nikon Coolpixs6000 and I love it!

Sorry didn't mean to post that yet, lol.

I love it because it has all different modes (macro is my favorite) its 14 megapixels and takes amazing pictures. I got the camera, case and memory card on sale for about 200. Its probably cheaper now, that was last summer. Good luck with your search!

You could probably get some good deals on eBay. Otherwise, I think a lot of p&s cameras are under GBP150

canon compacts are famous for their ease of use. i'd get a canon powershot, no question about it if i had that much to spend on one.

panasonic lumix compacts are really good and within your price range

I second Vikdaddys recommendation of a Canon Powershot. As you know I'm a big canon fan and my little p&s is not lettign me down whilst my dslr is out of action (and actually a lot of my pics so far have been taken with it).

I've found my Canons to be really easy to use, reliable and quite resistant to daily wear and tear.

I have a canon powershot as well and it's great mine is a sx120 and was around £100. I would love a dslr but can't stretch to that at the mo...in the meantime I am more than happy with my powershot..x

I have the SX120 too @bec01 and I think its fantastic for its size and price , I paid £100 for mine in a sale and its about £120 on amazon.co.uk its got all the modes of my SLR but in a compact size and it has 10x optical zoom which is more than adequate for everyday stuff and I use that for wildlife! This camera takes AA batteries so you can always get batteries for it if they die when you are out @elsz , I have 4 2800 mah1
batteries and Ive only recharged them twice this year despite taking 2000 photos !

i'm very happy with the pictures that my canon powershot takes. the price dropped recently, i believe.

I have a Panasonic Lumix TZ10 and I love it.

another vote for the panasonic lumix, it has it's preset modes but also has a manual mode where you can play with exposure etc aswell. it's my handbag camera, you don't need huge pixel numbers as they use really good lenses so you get great clarity in your shots and they have a high optical zoom so you don't lose your picture quality there euither

Samsung wb600 is what i have. Bought as a present for every day pictures - easier to carry around :o) It is fab. I can't work the macro too well though.. my Fuji seems best for that :o)
