Hi Ross or anyone who may be able to help.
I am keen to become an Ace member, but I won't use Paypal (as I have been scammed via Paypal previously). Can I pay via card or some other way (direct deposit?)
Thanks heaps,
richard
You can pay via credit card direct through PayPal as far as I'm aware, without needing an account with them. Try actually going through the process and scour the page for "I don't want an account"-style options?
You can set up a paypal account with a prepaid debit or prepaid credit card.
Paypal will charge the prepaid card 1.95 and it takes a few weeks for the money to come back but there is a 4 digit code associated with the billing that you use to confirm the prepaid card.
You can put the amount of the card to cover for the Ace membership and the 1.95 confirmation fee on the card. Then you do not have to worry about all those problems that can happen when using Paypal.
(Set up an new user account so there is no connection with prior account you have had before in the past.)
Yeah, @eyebrows is right. You don't have to use paypal. Once you get to the end there is an option to just use your credit card. My husband and I didn't want to use paypal either and that is how I got my ace membership. =)
Note that I'm very, very well aware of how fraudulent PayPal are, and do despise them myself (they are a bank to all intents and purposes but aren't legally classed as one, so aren't regulated to anything like the extent real banks are, and are a law unto themselves) but doing the account-less method shouldn't pose any risks.
@sissybufu - Your comments here sissy I believe is one of the reasons why people shy away from paypal. In principle what you say is good judgement but to me, it does sound like an ordeal in order to purchase something online.
and thanks for the advice @eyebrows , the account-less way to go sounds like a plan.
My problem is I won't use paypal and don't have a credit card .. just a debit card... and couldn't use that on occasions when I tried .... I could send a cheque..... if debit can't be arranged.
