Hi, everyone! I have an idea that I have been sitting on for awhile, a "Prop Swap" meeting for local photographers in my area. I thought I would check around the 365 neighborhood to see if anyone else has ever heard of or been a part of one before? My idea is to gather as many local "portrait" photographers as I can from the local area to buy, sell, and trade portrait props. Still working out details, such as the cost of a venue, open door or invite only, ...cover charge or not,...as well as other stuff. Anyway, I thought I would see what you guys thought about it first before throwing the idea out to my local network! If you have ever attended such a venue, any tips or details would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
@tamaralara I don't do a lot of portrait photography, but have been asked on occassion to do some. I would have felt so much more comfortable if something like that was available in my area. I can't see spending a ton of money of props that I may use once a year. I think this is a great idea that you should run with! It sounds like a service that many photographers, especially amatuer, could benefit from.
@kezzam@tmoore --Thanks for the encouragement ladies! Anyone have any ideas about the legalities? For example, how to make sells, buys, and swaps final without worry for everyone involved?? What should the ground rules be?
Check out the likes of community centres and church halls for places that won't charge you much for an event...
Alternatively local bars with function rooms are likely to be really cheap during the daytime for somewhere.
Other than that anywhere there's a car boot sale...
