Color Calibration

March 16th, 2011
Just wondering, do yall know anything about it, or have any tips or suggestions?
There's some software you can buy, right?

The reason I'm wondering is: I upload my photos from my camera to one pc, then use a different pc to upload them to this site. Just between the two different computers, the details and colors change SOO much.

I would love to know too as I want to calibrate my monitor. I think I read somewhere to print a picture off then do something to the monitor so the colours are the same but don't know if that's right.

I personally use Spyder 3 Pro, but I have also heard ColorMunki is another really great program.

One thing to keep in mind, though, is that the difference in color is not because of the computer, but rather the monitor. If you were to put a photo on one computer, view it, put it on the other computer but switch monitors first, you would see the same colors.

These programs will run you about $150, and I only recommend them for professionals who do a lot of printing. If you think about it: you may be able to color calibrate your monitor for proper colors, but unless everybody else also has a calibrated monitors the colors will still look different to them.
