New 365er

March 17th, 2011
I am new of only about a week ago to the project. I am super excited to be a part of it. I hope to improve in many areas of photography, but first on my list is help with learning and using the manual settings on my camera.

So please take a look at what I have already posted to kind of see where I am. I have a Cannon PowerShot SX130 IS and if you have any suggestions or comments on how to use my camera to set up better shots or to what to change the settings to, I'm all ears.

I want to feel more comfortable using the manual settings on this one before I commit to an Digital SLR!

Thanks!

Amy

You already have a very creative eye for your photography. You have some great shots! Play around, read up on some photography sites and see what looks good to you! I am sure there will be some much better photographers than me that can help you better with your settings. But you are really off to a good start!

@ldssunshine i have the same camera, and doing the 365 project has helped me figure out a lot of the functions just by seeing what other people have to say/reading other suggestions on the site.

i love your pictures so far, especially the baseball one.

One of the best pieces of advice I was given was to look at the Exif attached to the photos, then go away and experiment. Doing that I have learned loads about my camera.
So much so that I have now gone out and ordered a full DSLR as I now find a bridge camera too limiting and I would never of said that two months ago!

Thanks to all of you! These are great suggestions.
