Canon 30D and 40D

So with the new job about to get under way finally I've learned that they are going to supply me with a 30D or a 40D camera. I currently have a Canon 1000D which is my best friend and I love to bits, what is the differences that I can expect. Is the quality better etc?

Shouldn't be too different or hard to get used to. I think that the menu's and set up for the 30D and 40D are a little easier to use. The 40D has a 3" LCD screen and Live View. I use Live View for composing shots sometime. As far as comparing them I'm not sure. I started out with a 40D. When mine was in the shop I borrowed a friend's 20D for a few days. I missed my large LCD and Live View but that was as far as the adjustments I had to make for a different camera went. It all worked basically the same.

Have fun with it Rose :)

Quality of images virtually the same, which is what matters really. But the 40D is a much better camera.

You know, Rose, something that might take some adjusting to is the size of the camera. I don't know about the 30D, but I remembered that the 20D felt so much smaller in my hand than the 40D. Your Rebel might be smaller than either the 30D or 40D so it might take a little bit to get used to the feel of it in your hands.

@geniabeana - I hadn't even thought of that Val so thank you very much. I plan to have a good play with it when I get it so I can become very familiar with it ...
