FANTASTIC NEWS

I am just so moved and happy to hear the news that the UN have agreed to impose a 'No Fly zone' to protect innocent civilians. Excellent words in the announcement by the US's Susan Rice: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-12781009 Britain and France will impose this with back-up from Arab states. The BEST news..... I can now be proud of my country taking the right action.

Its nice to see so many countries working together on a worthwhile goal. As an American I'm proud of the Obama adminisration and Sec. Clinton for working within the framework of the UN. Now lets just hope it is not too late.

@smapp @aj1268 And thanks for commenting. Yes, I too am proud that the UK Government, this time, operated on humanitarian considerations, with the huge support of the British public. Appreciate your words.... Everything now crossed. I was overcome by the news. It's been weighing heavily on me that we coudn't support them.

Totally agree we need to be seen operating on humanitarian considerations,
but the cynic in me keeps saying Oil, OIL, THEY HAVE O I L,

There are many countries where humanitarian criss has been going on too long and we in the developed world turn a blind eye, but as soon as an oil producing country is involved we step in!

You are right that it took us a long time in Bosnia, better on Sierra Leone where there was no gain and the Brits are viewed as heroes... Oil is also my suspicion, but it couldn't have happened without sufficient public support, which was on humanitarian grounds. Also, Europe doesn't want a worse Libya thatn it used to be just across the Med, plus all the refugees, which I am sure influenced the powers that be.

Anyway, I am just glad that you care!
