When do you do outdoor portrait sessions?

Hi,

I've been doing outdoor portrait sessions and really only been doing them early morning or late evening for best light, but this puts alot of people off...so just wondering what time of day everyone else does them?

I shoot for morning or late afternoon, but if it doesn't work out I work with what I can, finding shade or whatever it may be!

Morning or evening like you said... the mid day lighting sucks unless you can find some filtered shade... and here in Texas one doesn't want to be out mid-day for a photo shot..portrait or still life..

Being in Australia the sun is extremely harsh so I usually only do portrait in the afternoon. I really like back lit photos too. But today I can't shoot this afternoon so I tried to go out early. Didn't get the sun angle I like but we made do.

Late afternoon is when I do them. I've gotten away with midday, but it's rather hard and challenging sometimes.

If you've got to go mid-day, hope like crazy for an overcast afternoon!

I love early mornings, but can deal with any time of day, I just search for the best light possible. But I also live in Seattle where most days are overcast.

early mornings are best, unless you want the sunset lighting.
