Goals you have set yourself and achieved.

March 23rd, 2011
During my project I have set my self certain tasks, a macro bee shot, a decent moon shot etc.One was proving to be very difficult- catching fast birds in flight. This week I had a breakthrough. So here are mine, now lets see your successes.

Mine was early into the project...the water drop shot. First attempt was a success! I really should get back to my to-do list instead of random shots....

Since I love portrait photography- my biggest goal was to achieve a super sharp focus on my subjects eyes. This shot of my daughter Rachel set the light bulb off for me!

One of my goals was to be able to take pictures of insects on flowers to add interest to the flower shots. I still get the insects out of focus a lot, but I am getting better. I posted two good shots on the 365 project. I counted four insects in today's picture.

Here is my first successful insect picture that I posted early in March.

I also set the goal of mastering super-sharp focus on the eyes in my portraits @rebcastillo77 - beautiful photo of your daughter! Here was my best attempt:

Next goal is to achieve perfect colour capture with white balance! Off I go...!

Wow.....anyone else noticing that embedded photos are looking a heck of a lot blurrier than the uploaded version on our own 365 page?
March 23rd, 2011
@lauracaseyfoss man we are on the exact same page!! White balance is my arch nemesis some days LOL!

@rebcastillo77 haha i know exactly what you mean! my cousin is a photographer and has been giving me assignments to work on. i'm going to 'follow' your progress and see if I can learn from you as well! loving your photos!

Hmmm...I guess I've reached a lot of them I had set up...need some new ones.

1. A great action shot of my child doing soccer

2. A moon shot that wasn't just a glowing ball of fury!

3. A cardinal...it is such a quick-flying bird! I literally stalked them!

4. A rainbow

5. A puddle

I still have those I want to attempt...hoping I'll get to with the warmer weather :)

@lauracaseyfoss ok deal- I will have to give you a follow and pick your brain as well LOL :D

Mine is catching bees in flight. Today I got the best shot so far, yes far from what I want. I have many bees on flowers and that been easy but flight WOW thats a challenge.

@melmellow Way to go!! AWESOME motion! @terek55 Love your soccer shots so far, and that rainbow is FAB!

I wanted to step outside my comfort - I shoot a lot of kid photos, but I would venture to guess that 80% of my photos are taken from my car...

These are some of my personal achievements in that realm:

@sdpace Wow that second photo is amazing. What you do with the processing is way beyond what I know how to do yet :) Maybe editing will be my next challenge...
March 23rd, 2011
@terek55 thanks, Terry. Do you have Lightroom? I've used a few different programs, and it is by far my favorite.
March 23rd, 2011
@sdpace Funny you should ask...I *just* got it in the mail today but haven't played with it at all yet...need to get "approved" as a student to get the ## ... shouldn't be hard :)
March 23rd, 2011
@terek55 i love your puddle shot!

i keep a list....feels good to cross things off, like i really achieved it :) the list is still long, and getting longer, the way i add to it!

a sun shot:

fizzy fruit:

improve on macro shots....really capture detail and texture:

bokeh:

take more (and become more comfortable with) selfies:

@tolpol great thread!! thanks for starting us off :)
March 23rd, 2011
@melmellow Now that is a difficult challenge :)
March 23rd, 2011
My first goal was to achieve a decent water shot..
This is from my first original attempts

After hours and hours of trial and error, I managed to get them to this stage:

I have now played with water so much, and taken so many different photos of effects etc.. I am looking for a new project.. I acheived what I set out to do with the water, and I could easily play all day with it, using different colours, different drop zones etc.. But I have to force myself to diversify.. Now just waiting for the next inspiration to come along lol
March 23rd, 2011
@tolpol Paul you have taken fantastic photos of the birds.. You have done well :)
March 23rd, 2011
@sdpace Space, your working is simply stunning :o)

I am afraid of portraits but really want to learn. I have two beautiful daughters as subjects. I think I will challenge myself for month of April and do a portrait everyday. We'll see.
