I posted this photo on Sunday with a true purpose but was too emotional to do a description when I posted it. My youngest son's girlfriend's sister made a rash and tragic decision to end her life on Saturday morning. She was an 18 year old beautiful, sweet and awesome young lady. It is a tragic loss and I wanted to do something in her honor, I thought this photo was a true symbol of peace and a great tribute to this wonderful girl. My heart is breaking for her parents, her siblings and my son.
If you have a photo that was taken as a tribute or remembrance of someone or something, please share.
These flowers were sent by a friend in CA for a mutual friends funeral back here in MI. I took a pic with my cell phone while at the visitation to send to the CA friend so she could see what she had sent. Our friend passed away completely unexpectedly on 3/18/11 at the age of 48.
I didn't exactly take this photo in remembrance of a friend. It is actually two photos that I already had and I just blended them together. The background is a favorite location of where this friend and I vacationed and the front picture is of my friend. I posted it on January 9th which was the one year anniversary of her passing.
Teri, (((HUGS))) I feel so bad for you, your son, and this girl's family!!!! Is this your son who just had a birthday? Your photo is so beautiful!! I think it is the perfect remembrance photo!
Words cannot express. My goodness. Ironically, I did that just 1 week ago for my co-worker, who lost his 4 year old daughter suddenly last Monday. I still don't know what to say to him when he returns.
@annehans@lolanae@schoolnsuch@moncooga@cfitzgerald Thank you all for your kind words and sharing your tributes as well. Chris - there are no words, and there is nothing wrong with saying just that. Amber - yes, my son unfortunately did not have a happy birthday at all. He is still in shock and just going through the motions. He didn't even remember calling me to tell me what happened, he is a very sensitive and emotional young man and he simply does not know how to support his girlfriend and process his own emotions too. Comforting him was so much easier when he was little...
im so sorry to hear about such a tragedy. it breaks my heart to hear that someone so young has so little hope for the future.
this is the picture that i posted last month to honor my mom-mom on the first anniversary of her death. her and my pop-pop were together over 60 years, and this is the sweetest, most adorable picture i have ever seen.
@tmoore Well, no one wants to admit to it, but talking to a Professional, while he is young, can do great things in his future. It can take time. This can be damaging. My girlfriend deals with kids, and sometimes out of the ordinary. And she has always said that getting "help" now, "helps" later. (my words, not hers. She does not say "help", as that may turn some people away from what is needed.
so sorry to hear of the tragic loss of a young life! it happens all too often. i took this photo early in my project after my husband's aunt and uncle lost their home to a fire...
I took this photo last week, on the day we found out that one of my husband's fraternity brothers died in Florida in a tragic car accident. Jee was an artist, and I think he'd appreciate the beauty of this landscape.
I am very sorry to hear about your loss, my thoughts are with you.
I have many photos throughout my project that are tributes to my little brother Christopher, who passed away from brain cancer on May 13th 2010, 5 days into my project.
@moncooga I just saw my son and his girlfriend for the first time since it happened. They seem to have a healthy and strong attitude right now, by neither one is a stranger to therapists and asking for help. I know they will both be open to it. I know after I lost my sister, therapy saved my life,
@alisongbradshaw@ashleyjwilson@binabrockbank These are all awesome tributes and photos, I am learning that there is a lot of comfort in creating beauty to honor our loved ones we have lost.
@webfoot I remember seeing this when you first posted it. Great composition and awesome story of friendship, I have been praying for everyone in Japan and hope you find that he is well!
I posted this in rememberance of my father you worked as a fire fighter for 40 years we lost him 4 years ago to lung cancer I miss him very much. even writting this makes me swell up in sorrow. I know he is watching over my family and I with a watchful eye. Love you Dad
My heart aches for your family, her family and friends. It's hard. My sincere condolences.
My mother passed away from ALS and my sister-in-law took her own life - she was in the process of being diagnosed with a similar degenerative disease. I wrote this poem which was read at both their funerals. I thought this photo was a perfect fit.
Miss you Mirmps....miss you Lotti ♥
BIRD OF PARADISE by Kim Watermeyer
Oh angel, who clipped your wings so short?
No longer can you touch the moon, nor dance among the waves.
Freedom cropped, the air is still
A passing moment hovers . . .
Will it ever be the same, or will you suffocate with tears?
How I wish to nurse you from this curse.
To lift you up and set you free amongst the winds.
Escape those bonds and rid the pain.
A new horizon longs to embrace you.
I made this one for a friend who lost her beloved little parrot after he put up a brave fight for life following an injury. He was the same species as my two feather girls and we'd been following his progress on facebook. Sadly his little body wasn't strong enough :(
Very sad. So sorry for the tragic ending to a young person's life. They just don't understand the effects of their actions. Thoughts and prayers for everyone who is left behind to mourn.
I made this memorial for my friend who lost her battle with leukemia in November. It was from a photo I had taken of her early on in my project, right after she had a chemo treatment.
Teri, I never really heard you speak about this girl, only of her sister and your son. This is indeed tragic for the family. Sometimes when people feel they don't matter they lose their way and feel all would be better off if they were not around... it doesn't make it easier for anyone involved, but there was a battle going on inside this young girl. I posted a pic on my 365 project in honor of my baby brother whose birthday is March 30th.. and I am attaching it here. I will pray for the family.. May God take away all her doubts and let her know she is / was loved...

These two photos were taken to help me process my grandfather's passing in Feb.
