Purchasing a New Lens

April 2nd, 2011
I'm looking to buy a macro lens for my Canon. I'm doing a little comparison price shopping. What websites do you recommend?

I'm eyeing up a new lens as well. Cheaspest I've found (shipping to Australia that is) for the 100mm L macro was at www.eglobaldigitalcameras.com.au

I have used B+H which is based in New York. I ordered a new camera body from them on a Friday night and it arrived at my door in North Queensland on Tuesday morning! And their price was the best I could find for that body.

I wish I had knows that B&H shipped to Australia! I would have got my 7D for the same price as in Australia including shipping and a lens...I only got a body :(

Just had a quick compare between B&H and the site I posted eariler. B&H looks more expensive.

@triptych_angel - Difference would've been the lack of a warranty on the body I think it would've been "grey" stock. Lens are fine though as they are covered internationally. Well Canon ones ar at least.

@dcr - Olympus bodies and lenses are covered internationally too...

I looked at your site and yeah yours has some good prices, but not as big a range... but again, I was only checking Oly gear.

@triptych_angel - and yeah Emma, I got my body plus a battery grip for less than I would have here in Australia for the body alone, and that included postage and customs excise. If your lens is under AUD$1,000.00 then you do not have to pay duty.

Sorry Harvey Norman...

@bobfoto - Hmm I didn't know that about Oly's. Interesting. I just looked at Canon.

Also I think a lot of online places put that the item is under $1000 so that you avoid the customs fees. (@triptych_angel)

@dcr - yeah when it comes to Oly warranty or repair issues, I contact Oly Australia direct in Sydney... never worry about going back to the store, just go direct to the manufacturer. Always had great advice and service from them.
