Black and white photography is something new to me so I'm not sure what subjects look best. I started on this wonderful project on January 1st and I have learned so much already but I keep striving to do new and different things. So show me your black and whites and tell me what you think of mine!! :-)
@nicolelouise83 Those are all wonderful!! I guess I am being to picky about what subject I use for black and white. You have a variety and they all look awesome! :-)
Yep I say go with it. You'll know when it's right and when it's not. I convert a lot of my photos into B&W. Some just work and others, well they don't =)
I like the the photo you posted, it is a simple photo. I think that's when B&W works best. In my opinion anyway and I'm far from an expert to be giving people advice, that's just something I've noticed with mu own photos =)
@meekoy Great shot, procrastination is my speciality subject.. When its time to write an essay 365/facebook/twitter become very interesting and always open in my tabs bar :)
I haven't done a lot of it, though with the right subject, it can be absolutely gorgeous! I used to do a LOT of it with film, but that was a million years ago!
Since I started my photography life WAAAY back in the day with 35mm b/w film and worked years after college and before grad school as a custom b/w printer in a commercial darkroom, I especially love b/w! And digital makes it so much simpler : ) All of you have some very nice examples shown here!
wow! I hadn't realised I had so many (I seem to say that often in threads like this!!!)
I didn't bother with the worst... but heres most of mine - in no particular order:
@pwallis I just open multiple individual browsers for each of the images I'm wanting to use, & the I just flick back & forth between this page & them to be able to copy & paste the vital info at the right time...
I shot at a dodgeball game recently, and I've been discovering that it looks better in monochrome. The lighting is too weird and the colours too distracting otherwise (lines everywhere, colourful mats hanging on walls, etc).
This was from noodling around with a homemade lightbox:
I love b&w but I try and be selective with it, these are my few;
This one I inverted as I took it on a grey cloudy day and it works so much better this way;
and finally, my favourite;
I have discovered that the sky is the limit when it comes to black and white photos! I just like experimenting with the pictures to decide if I like them better in color or black and white.

I hope to do more...perhaps with my little models :)

ps - can anyone tell me how to upload multiple photos at one time on one of these threads?

I like this one because It is my dog lol.
Not quite black and white, but...
Sorry, think I might've gone a bit over the top, there... :/ I do like black'n'white pictures, though!
Here are a couple of mine and I have more in my extras/misc folders.
And also with B&W you can do SC which I love!
