Hi Everyone? Sorry again please can I ask for your advice? Thanks x

Hello Everyone,

I have posted before asking the same question? And you all gave such good advice, and I followed all the advice given but I still think the photo's I take out-doors are really bright? :-( And just doesn't look natural?

What am I doing wrong? Do you think there could be a problem with my camera! It's probably just me! Or are the photo's supposed to look like that?

But it's really frustrating me now :-( As I just don't know what to do :-( As I love taking photo's of my children. And it seems all the photo's I'm taking out-doors of my children I just end up deleting as I think they all look to bright :-(

I have taken all your advice and I now take my photo's on AV, the ISO is set on AUTO, and the WB is on AUTO.

Any help you can give would be fantastic, thank-you :-)

Beverley x

P.S I will up-load some of my photo's that I think that are too bright?

Here's another photo that I also think is too bright :-( The grass isn't green? The baby goats are to bright?

Hope you can help?

Thank-You x

hi Bev, theres no problem with any of your photos..... meaning to say, those are "SOOC"
“straight-out-of-camera”, have you tried any photo editing softwares ? like photoshop ?

Hi Jaydee

Thank-You for your advice, that's great thank-you.

No I haven't tried any photo editing softwares yet!

Do you recommend it? Is it easy to use!

Thanks once again

I'd play with the WB - try it on different settings (does it have sunshine/shade/cloudy?)
The exposure might be set too high as well? I'm a beginner myself though!

Most compact cameras will also let you adjust the exposure (usually it's a scale between around +2 and -2). If you adjust it towards minus, it will decrease the brightness.
You can also try pointing the focus area (usually depicted by a box on the LCD screen) on a brighter point in the image, then depress the shutter button half way and then recompose the image. It should then expose for the brighter point, making the image darker in general.

I find that AUTO setting usually have too much light, giving a washed out look. WB settings would help, and lowering ISO settings, especially if bright outside. (100-200?)

Im not expert with my camera and normally just leave it on portrait or landscape.. terrible I know..
and so with anything Im not happy with , its straight to the edit program,
normally just by slightly adjusting the contrast and balance you will darken and bring out the truer colors..

I'd also recommend messing with WB and Exposure compensation. Also, try a different ISO setting.
Like others said, you can also use post processing (picnik is good to start with). I personally prefer to get things right in camera though.

If you are overwhelmed by editing software. I did this in just a few minutes at Picnik.com I fixed the exposure and colors. Plus, saturated it too. If you are not familiar with photo editing, this is a fun place to begin.

A quick light edit in PhotoShop... Increased black level, saturated, burned highlights.

Picassa/picnik is free and very easy to use, a great starting point for editing.

The one thing I noticed in your exif data is that you are shooting with a really high ISO and a super fast shutter. That high ISO makes your sensor very sensitive to light. You might try shooting with an ISO of 100 and adjusting the shutter speed and aperture to get your exposure.
