Family photo shoot advice

April 18th, 2011
Hi - At a recent thing I went to, I won some vouchers for a professional hotography shoot. It is something I have always wanted to experience (especially being purely amateur myself) so my partner and his daughter and I are going along this Saturday for this shoot.

With this said, I hawas just wondering if anyone had any advice of dos and or donts or suggestions of pictures to try and get them to get?

Anything would be appreciated!

Cheers

Similar color pallet for you all, no patterns..
do you want formal or casual or a mix of both.. ?
so take a change of clothes.
depends on the age of the child make sure he is well rested and well fed. take one of his fav toys not only to play with while waiting,, but to use in the photo shoot.(if younger than say 3)
you want the pro to engage with you. not just as another subject. that way you will get the best shots..
tell them what kind of shots you want.. if you dont know then you will not have any control over what shots you will get...

and most of all have fun... if you have fun it will show in the photos..
and lastly dont let them sell you any more photos than you can afford..
sometimes you will get a hard sell to buy all the shots... and you dont have too.
I have had some free photo shoots and of course they want you to buy all the shots. but if it includes a free photo,,, its ok to just get that one....
hope this has been helpful
