Odd things in nature

April 24th, 2011
I figured this could be interesting. We got a pack of strawberries this weekend, and upon opening it, we were greeted with two strawberries looking like this:

Then we also have the "shaggy" tree near where we live...

Anyone else found any odd things in nature?

The Weirdest Thing..............I forgot about this photo, It was take a while ago just outside Huntingdon while I was looking for some bluebells to take photos of. It was a small wood with bluebells on the wood floor, I didn't notice at first but 'all' the smooth barked trees had snails, lots of snails, all the way up their trunks, I have never seen this before. Given that I spent my childhood with a bluebell wood at the bottom of my garden, I found it the weirdest thing. Has anyone else seen it before? I would be interested to know.

@lolanae Your tree is a silver birch. Fantastic!! They are my favourite tree, I love the silvery white bark and their beautiful heart shaped leaves, and the way the bark strips off like paper.

@redkite - Awesome! I figured someone here would know. My daughter loves her tree.

Nature tends to clump.
A tree in my backyard was completely bare save for these few leaves.

@michelleice It's a fern, although I'm not sure which type it is. It looks the same as one I took a photo of a couple of weeks ago xx

@lolanae I can honestly say I have never seen a mutant strawberry before! That is very interesting and very very strange! But, I have seen trees like that before. I have pics of them too (but not on here). I'm not a botanist/arborist or whatever-ist they are, but I think its some type of birch.
