I think you can fit a laptop also on the backpack. I seen videos. But I'm not sure if I'll be able to fit a 15" laptop. Anyone has these bags? Is there any other bags thats good for dslr camera and a laptop?
Well, I have the 200EG Canon backpack and I can say with 100% certainty that you cannot fit a laptop of any size in it. Sure, you could probably remove all of the dividers in the main compartment and somewhat squeeze a laptop in with the camera and maybe one or two lenses detached, but it doesn't have a separate compartment for laptop storage.
I carry a MEC or maybe northface laptop pack with two other 'big' pockets and a great front on for my camera...
Also NO padding(for the camera)... but I can have my camera in my hands and shooting in about 5 secs... during flights I take the lens off and put it inside in a camera bag that is inside the pack... I could post photos if something like this interests you...
I have a Lowepro Slingshot 300 and it doesn't fit my 13inch Macbook pro, so I carry a separate laptop bag for that. However, if I wanted to get really serious, then my Lowepro DZ 200 will fit everything. It is fully waterproof, you can submerse it if you wanted, and it fits a bucketload. But it is too big for Carry-On baggage. I used it for a few Canoe trips up the Sepik River in PNG.
Both bags are pretty comfy, I have had both on my back for hikes of at least 10 hours and they're not bad. The DZ 200 looks like you have a huge Turtle strapped to your back, its a big bag, but it is bulletproof. I have had Airniugini baggage handlers handle it.
The Slingshot 300 is prolly a bit big for a slingbag and maybe a 200 would have been fine. But like I say, not big enough for the lappy.
My Tamrac fits two camera (with lenses), three other lenses, 17 inch laptop and heaps of leads...It even has a seperate space so that I can carry non-camera type stuff (like water) but it is NOT comfortable for more than about an hour. The laptop is against your back and there is no give. It's a very unforgiving feeling bag.
