This is how my lens looks now.
I can't be the only person to drop a camera on its lens... The glass seems ok, but it's all wonky and doesn't work. If this has happened to you, what did you do, and how much did it cost?!
I dropped my camera on it's lens as we left a restaurant during the 365 London meet-up back in January! I can't adjust the focus anymore. I've been using my p&s and phone ever since...
Have you checked another lens on the camera body to see if all is ok? I hope so..
I've dropped a bag of camera's and lenses once, and it wasnt cost effective to get a couple of the lenses fixed - so had to get new ones. I see the price of your lens isnt too bad, so I'd go get quotes to fix v replacement lens.. Good luck!
edit: There's some second hand lenses on ebay, very very cheap!
The exact thing happened to me - I dropped my big lens and although it looked OK, the focus ring was jammed so I took it to my local shop (where I bought it) and they sent it to Toronto to be repaired. It cost about half of what I paid for it because some elements had to be replaced. If they had been able to just repair those elements, it would have been about a third. That's with their insurance! My heart just aches for you - I know how it feels. Hope everything works out for you!
@rich57@timandelke@blightygal After understanding that a new one would be cheaper than fixing the broken one I guessed it was worth trying to use a little brute force! AND IT WORKED!!!
Hooray! :)
