I was thinking of printing some of my photography shots and posting them on a wall in my room-- like a big collage or something. My mom is having a second thought, though. She thinks that dust will just stick on my shots and will make the condo unit not child-friendly (my brothers being asthmatic).
So, what do you think? Do you have a photo wall in your home? How is it? What did you do? Care to share your shots?
Anyway, good luck with the project! Im behind by some shots since I just came from Korea. Hopefully, Ill be posting again, soon! :D
Hmmm... I have never thought of dust sticking but I would think it would be like just about anything else in your house that would collect dust. Just wipe it down periodically would be my thinking. I have everything in my house framed and have to dust periodically. You can get prints done on paper that is meant to resist water, stains, finger prints and the like. If you are not going to frame them, I would recommend going with this paper. I think it is called Endura but Kodak.
I have a wall covered in my prints, I have put them into frames though to keep the dust off them, the frames still collect dust but like @autumnseden said you just dust them!!
@sarmientorj What about creating a "slide show" for your computer's screen saver?? Gotta dust the computer anyway... saves paper and may keep mom happy. Or print and put into scrapbook, journal your thoughts along with??
Whatever you do. DO NOT put them into cd cases and then use putty to stick the cases to your wall. I've learned the hard way that doing such things is not good for paint.
You could get an electronic photo frame, and just have that turned on , You can add a lot of photos that will rotate..
But you will have to dust it , just like other things...
@autumnseden and @michellegaynor thank you! yeah! I think I'll have it printed and posted. I learned that there's this nice feather duster where dust really sticks very nicely. I think dusting the whole thing will be pretty easy.
hey @celticmystyc ! I was planning to print my 365 after ending it. I'm really intersted in using blurb (read the thing in one of the posts here). I wish it would be good quality!
@mej2011 woah! that would be cool, but yeah, i guess it destroys the paint. thanks for the advice, melissa!
@nikkers thank you! :P I have one at home but it's too small. Im planning to decorating my wall coz it looks barren. But yes, the electronic frame is a good idea! :)
Why not stick them on the wall then get a big sheet of plastic (like the acrylic ones you can get photos printed on) to pin over it. Protection for the photos and your brother.
I love the idea of a photo wall...of course they'll get dusty...once a week DUST like every mother in the world does. I dust and I dust and I dust. At least I dust what I want to look at. Your photos won't attract any more dust than the wall does. Do you already dust off the wall in order to help your mum?...I thought so...just be careful about what you use to mount them...you don't want to lose paint when you want to move them around...BTW I use BLURB all the time and they are fantastic.
Right, I've been up to my room, basically, I have one wall with paper stuck up and paint splatted on, another half wall with posters, photos, quotes, artwork etc, all are blu tacked up and I wouldn't say they were dusty... then on another wall I have my better 365 photos 5cm apart, all blu tacked up and I wouldn't say they were very dusty either, on another wall I have a koala poster in a frame, the top of the frame gets dusty but not the rest, on another bit of wall I have my New York sign thingy I made which is photos backed on card blu tacked to the wall, that doesn't get dusty either, then I have loads of photos under my desk which is under glass so obviously they don't get dusty, and I can take the glass on and off to change the photos but I don't get round to that very often!
I did a video of my room which is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlzineuDz_w
If not there are a couple of photos of two of my walls here:
As you can tell, I've spent a lot of time make my room how I want it! I just need a couple more rows of photos and that photo wall will be done and then I can move on :D
I saw a display in a store here that I'm smitten with - they have netting in the display windows, with Polaroids of models / shoots on the net. It's amazing :D

I thought it was more fabirc-type materials that are a "dust-collection worry" I would think a wall of photo would collect no more dust than the wall itself does. I am allergic to dust mites and was told by my allergist to have as little fabric, carpeting, curtains, throw pillows etc in my house. Nothing was said about wood or paper. :-)
But you will have to dust it , just like other things...
