shoot slightly farther out than where you actually want the shot framed. Its nice to have that extra room to crop if needed :)

Definitely check that link posted above out, lots of useful lighting tips!

What I would suggest, is definitely getting a variety of shots from a multitude of angles with different facial expressions.

Aim for about 3 final (different) useable pictures- 5 if everything is going well!

You'll want:

1. Your basic headshot-
A straightforward and head on shot. A nice DOF against a subtle background- nothing too distracting of course- but watch your focus and ensure your not focused on the tip of the nose, but rather eyes!

2. The smiling shot
This I would suggest you do maybe against some sort of wall with your model sitting down, smiling. I would advise against filling your frame entirely with your models face, so I would say zoom out a bit and off centre your models face. Get some upper body in your shot as well, maybe a have him/her lean over and slightly tilt their face to you. If it is a female- get some hair/wind action going!

3. Full body shot
Especially since this is modelling, (unfortunately) body is pretty important. Make sure your not cutting off any body pieces! Full head to toe!

4/5. Various model like poses.
For obvious reasons. Play it up with the poses AND outfits. Repetition wont stand out, be different and daring!

Good luck!

is it going to be outdoor? or indoor?

@stefanieneves Thanks, will be next week so this will help alot :) Was supposed to be today.

@maceugenio Both but not quite sure if she wants both indoor and outdoor for her modelling, because she wants a photo for her boyfriend for his birthday. So we will go with indoor for now :)...

I am no expert and am always a little hesitant to add my ten cents worth to this type of thread but if you look through my work (I have a fair few portrait and boudoir shots) and there is anything you like and want to ask about... well, just, ask.
Good luck.
