Wide angle lens - Sigma 10-20 vs. Tamron 10-24?

June 17th, 2011
I am looking to buy a wide angle lens for my Canon XTi. I am considering the Sigma 10-20 or the Tamron 10-24. Any suggestions?

I can't offer a comparison, but I have the Sigma & it's fantastic. Try www.dpreview.com for detailed technical review of each lens.

I've had the sigma for 3 years and it's brilliant.

Tamron all the way inless you fancy the extra cash for the canon

I have the Tamron and am more than happy with it, but that's only because I don't have the cash to buy the Canon. And also, having said that - I have the Sigma zoom and I love it too. So I guess I'm not super picky about which brand I use, lol

I just purchased and then returned the Tokina 11-16mm. I now have the Sigma 10-20mm and I am much happier. I am glad to sacrifice the lens speed for the lower price and wider range. Image quality seems to be fair as well.

if you can afford it, the Canon 10-22mm is superior, otherwise the sigma is a nice second :)

Not sure if you got a wide angle yet as this post is old but here are a couple of shots I did today with the Tamron not on a Tripod! I have had it for less than two weeks but really like it so far. i do have a few L lens to compare and so far so good!
