After a lot of work and frustration it took me six months of relearning what to do to get in the mindset of stock photography from artist photography.
A lot of rejection but finally acceptance and better yet...SALES!
If any of you are thinking about stock,or have been rejected and gave up, it is a lot of work but you learn a ton about perfecting your craft.
I got shut down by the biggies over and over with little feedback that was useful, but this month Dreamstime let me in the door and the reviewers give me clear feedback that taught me and are helping me refine as I build a portfolio. I am about to cross 50 accepted uploads.
i did microstock for quite a few years, and when I was uploading consistently, it was a darn good supplement to my other income. It really is exciting and fun, and once you get a portfolio built up, the income just keeps building. You might also try Fotolia, Bigstock, shutterstock, and 123rf. I still get small royalty checks from all of them, even though I haven't uploaded anything in over two years! Istockphoto is much harder to get into now, but it's a great one -- it was one of my best money makers when I was active.
just keep at it!!
Hey there @gingersanders glad to hear it's working out. Could you hit us up with a link to your gallery? I for one would be interested to see what sort of shots you've had success with :)
