Half time!!

July 1st, 2011
July 1rst, the first day of the second half of 2011, and also the first day of my second half on 365. Guess that many of us have started around January 1rst, like I did, so it's our halfway point today... So, maybe it's time for a little resumé. :-)

Noticed that I ran through several phases ever since I started the project. In January, when I was still a newbie, it was more like a diary as I tried to reflect the moods and events of each day in my photos. But as time went by, I got so much inspiration from this project that I tried different things, different techniques and styles. Later this year, when nature awoke after a long winter, I just wanted to capture the green of the spring, and the essence of the approaching summer. Right now, as I have to admit, I'm in some kind of creative crisis, in need of new ideas.

During the 6 months of this project, I had some of my pics on PP every once in a while, which made me happy, and two of my pics made it to the top 20, this one:

and this one:

I never expected something like this, and it made me really proud. :-O

Noticed today that many of those that joined the project with me in early January have given up a long time ago, and that many of those I was following are no longer posting. For this reason, I have "cleaned" my list today, to make room for new inspirational people to follow. So, let the second half begin...

What about you? What are your thoughts after half a year of 365? Are you still inspired? Even more inspired? Where did it lead you?

I'm so glad I've got as far as I have. I feel like I have improved hugely. I also feel I have so many other things to try and experiment with. At this stage in my project, I also feel like I could go on for another year! But we shall see how I feel with that in December :P

I'm so proud to have reached half way! I've not had any on the PP or in the top 20 that I know of, but people have fav'd my pictures, and I've had so many lovely comments!

My project is still a record of the year for me, although I like t think that the quality has improved over these 6 months :)

My pictures have improved (I think) and I've achieved things with a camera I honestly never thought I could. I love it, and it's become part of my life.

I have learned so much since January 1st, and love photography even more than I did then. I have trouble with inspiration sometimes, but I think it is because I challenge myself more than I did back then. It has been a great first half and I'm excited for the second half!

I just realized that I have reached the half way point! I never dreamed how much self discipline this would take. I have never been on the top 20. Several of my pictures have been on the PP. Today, I found out that my daisy collage made it to the top three in the Tag Challenge II. I never dreamed that I would achieve any of this. I have improved so much. I really enjoy reading the kind comments. I especially enjoy looking at the images of others. I am so amazed by the great photographers on the 365 project.

Here is my picture from today. It has an artistic feel that I like. I am so glad that I was able to capture the beauty of this marigold in this stage of its life.

I wanted to do something special to celebrate the halfway mark, a couple of weeks ago I thought about doing a selfie to mark the occasion but for various reasons that wasn't to be so I came up with this...

Congrats to all my fellow 365'ers who are also celebrating their halfway mark these days! :-) Wishing you a lot of fun and even more inspiration in the second half.

@frameit : Tracy, what a cool idea! :-)

@daisy : Kathryn, that's a a beautiful picture, with great colors!

Congrats on your Top 20, beautiful! :)

I totally forgot about doing a pic to celebrate the half way point of the project. I can't believe I've made it this far.

In order to stay with the project, I had to make some adjustments. I don't have time to take a pic each and every day, especially during a typical work week. So I take pics when I can, and then upload them. Also, I don't have much time for the internet now that summer is here, so don't have the same time to comment back on everyone's photos. When I started the project, I used to spend an hour or two commenting on everyone's photos. Now, I might have 10 minutes at the end of the day to do that.

This project has definately brought back my photography 'bug'. It also introduced me to water shots - and now I can't get enough of them. :) My favourite from my project is this one -

Liquid Fire

I've also been experimenting with portraits and started taking baby photos. I never thought I would enjoy doing that part of photography, but I love it. Usually I'm macro/nature focussed but now I'm expanding more because of this project.

I'm so glad I'm still participating and very happy that I'm focussing more on the technical aspects of the photos and experimenting more! I've made it to the Top 20 and Popular Page and am very thankful to my wonderful followers and those who take time to stop by my project. :)
