I was wondering if anyone has this lens and if they could post some pics that they have shot with it.

Hi Luke! Are you looking to get this lens? There are a ton of people who use the "nifty fifty," and I can't think if one good reason NOT to own it. Great price and an awesome lens. What kind of photos are you wanting to see? The great attribute of the lens is the aperture control, and people use it in very different ways in different situations.

Here are a few of mine:

This is a shot from the day I bought the lens...

It's definitely a great lens --especially for the price. It's my favourite :) I've taken many shots with it for my 365 (mostly in January and February, if you want to see more). Here are a couple examples:

Those three are taking advantage of the aperture control for a shallow depth of field. It's a great lens for portraiture! I also used the lens for photographing fireworks awhile ago.

If you're considering buying it, I highly recommend this lens :)

I have one. It's very affordable and sharp, and the f/1.8 allows you to shoot in low light or get those nice blurred backgrounds. If you have a DX camera, it is effectively an 80mm, ok length for portraits but can be hard to use indoors if you want to take pictures without cutting people's legs off. I think 28 or 35mm is more useful on a DX camera (for me), but those are a lot more expensive. It's an unbelievably good lens for the money, great bargain. I tend to use my zoom more though since it goes down to 18mm and I can get wide angle shots without changing lenses.

I have both the 50mm and the 35mm Nikkor lenses. I got the 50mm first, as it fit my budget. I still use it to this day. But I agree with Michael about it not being the best choice for indoors. I did end up buying the 35mm. I tend to use it more than my 50. It's almost as sharp.

For the money, you really can't go wrong with the 50mm.

I have a Nikon 5100 and because of the crop factor use a 35 mm 1.8 Nikkor lense. Here is an article if interested http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/35mm-f18.htm. Got mine for 200 at Best Buy, but it can go up to 300.

I just purchased this, so I'm still playing with it...but so far it seems to be good. It's such a decent price right now. I'm thinking it might go up.

Not a wonderful photo, but you can see the DOF at 1.8. I just bought this lens myself.

Here are a few of my shots Luke ..... I love my nifty fifty, particularly outdoors and on still lifes .... the beautiful DOF and bokeh opened up a whole new world of photography to me - and create some beautiful effects

Let us know if you buy one!

Almost ALL of my pictures are taken with the 50mm F1.8 lens on my D90. I LOVE it and highly recommend it....unless, of course, you can afford the F1.4. I love the ability to take pictures in low light and I love the bokeh possibilities.

here are a couple recent ones... taken mostly at night in no natural light (which is not my preference...but it happens a lot because I work all day).

Buy it! I have the same one and its my favourite lens! All my macro flower photos are taken using that lens with a macro filter stuck on the end of it. Do you have an Af motor in the body of the camera? If not it will be manual focus only, i use MF with it and its fine. Just something to think about. But it has definitely been worth every penny and its great for portraits and lower light photography because of the large aperture.
