Calibrating Monitor

July 20th, 2011
Do you calibrate your monitor? How do you do it? I have found that a lot of people will say something looks "right on" and to me, it has a blue or magenta hue to it. I am wondering if it's me or my monitor. Thanks for any tips! :) (BTW, I run on a Mac. I don't know if that makes a difference in this discussion)

I tried to calibrate my moniter last week, however my friends program wasn't working. I am going to order one from BH. We looked at my photo side by side on our computers and there was a distinct difference in color. Things seemed darker on my screen.

I have 3 Macs, and a PC. I calibrate all my monitors using a "Spider-2 Express Color Vision calibrator by Datacolor, bi-monthly. Have had no problems. I found the Monitor calibration program that comes with Macs do not do a good job, because it relies on YOUR eyes to guess at color comparisons. The calibrator I use does it's job digitally. No guessing on my part.

I have not calibrated mine yet and it seems to be pretty good. I found a website that has samples images and I could see all of the hues shown. At some point, I am going to do it.......

I use Datacolor's Spyder3 Pro, and it works perfectly every time. I do a calibration check or recal every two weeks. Hardware calibration devices are the only way to be certain your display is accurate.
