Mac computer problems =(

So today in the middle of burning a cd my burner quit working. It was unable to verify the disk which happens to me occasionally cause of a bad cd so i thought nothing of it and put in another cd and here is what happened: Normally it detects a cd is there and grabs it and sucks it inside then after a sec or so pops up with the "uh what do you want me to do" box Well this time it didnt detect a cd being put in until I had almost put the whole thing in myself. Then it wouldnt read it though i can hear it trying then all of a sudden it makes this grinding noise and spits the cd out. What could possibly be wrong? The rest of the computor seems to work just fine.

Mine's done that a couple times. I'd say restart it and try again. If it still doesn't work, it might just be crapping out. How long have you had it?

@triciaanddazzle did try restarting it and I've had it for a couple years so its definitely at least past warranty for free fixing =( and unfortunately apple charges just for you to talk to customer service

I was wanting to invest in a Mac computer due to the phenominal photoshop apps, so its good to hear both good and bad, I was wanting to keep it for 5 years at least. Do you recommend Mac , have you been satisfied by it other than this? Can a regular computer dealer fix this and for how much?

@missvicki it is worth it! bought mine at a fry's electronics shop. the service was great there. I have had to take it is for hard drive and i would reccomend taking it to your local apple store in person service is always better then over the phone and yes they will charge you to talk to customer service over the phone unless of course you have bought an extended warranty. but all in all its worth it however if you want to save money unless you plan on having your own business stick to a pc and stick to photoshop thats just as awesome as mac's photo editing software. but if you do get a mac my one advice is don't skimp on the screen size

@frontporchview If you bring it to an Apple Store, they will at least assess it for you...maybe its something they've seen before.I always say download new drivers. Did you try restarting and putting in a disk again?

Do you have a local store? I took mine there when my battery completely died [after two years] and they gave me a new one for free.

Mine did that when my parnter gave me a dvd to play, made some wicked noises and it never played again! Comp was only a couple years old, so had to buy an external CD writer/player.

@triciaanddazzle I do but it's now past the year warranty. Thankfully after a moments panic I remembered I bought a two year extended warranty through fry's electronics so now it is currently there being fixed and I am without a computor for a week and going crazy lol. Soo glad my phone has internet access. Can't post any pictures but at least I can browse everyone else's pictures

@frontporchview Mine was past the year warranty and they still fixed it for free anyway. They were really helpful. At least you have it all worked out!
