Camera insurance (question especially for anyone travelling)

August 3rd, 2011
Hi everyone,

Bit of a longshot but maybe someone can help! I'm thinking of purchasing the canon eos1100d and obviously am thinking about insuring it. At the moment I am living in Spain but plan to head off travelling in South America next year. My question is this, as when I am travelling I technically won't have a fixed address, neither here in Spain or back in the UK where I am from, will I be able to get insurance? Do people on here who are travelling have their cameras insured, does it all fall under travel insurance and will I be ok with the address problem. These may well be stupid questions and a longshot that anyone knows but thought I'd try anyway! Thanks a lot in advance of any ideas! Dave.

i doubt a camera would be covered by travel insurance. my camera is covered by my personal possessions insurance, which covers all of my possession up to £2500, whether in or out of the house. i'm not sure whether you can get personal possessions insurance without having a home address ...don't see why not though!

I have used SquareTrade for iPhones with decent luck. Not sure about outside of the USA though http://www.squaretrade.com/pages/

Re-upping this old thread as well - because after the tragic end to my last camera (my underwater case failed while diving in Barbados) I really need to insure this one.

Considering this insurance company but figured I would ask if anyone has purchased through anywhere else? I need it to be covered world wide and against full submersion, drop and theft.
