This weekend in Brisbane is Riverfire (kinda like New Years-scale fireworks), and many of are buffing our lenses and charging our batteries in readiness.
BUT... There is also the Brisbane Festival for three weeks of September, which means a great chance to get some shots you won't normally see. Including this:
Every night from 3rd to 24th, South Bank, the River and the City will be lit up with lasers and lights and what not. By the looks of it, it should make for some amazing shots.
So if you are elsewhere in QLD, Australia, the World or the Universe in general, and you are coming to Brisbane in September - don't leave you camera at home!
And for us lucky enough to live in Brisbane, it gives us a whole month to get "THAT" photo!
Thanks for the heads up Elliot!
I've got a wedding this weekend so unfortunately will miss riverfire (dammit - I am still yet to try capturing fireworks!)
But I will definitely check out the rest of the Brisbane festival for 'that shot' :)
isn't it ironic that such a beautiful event is held on what was such a horrific site earlier in the year.
i am going to a friend's bbq who lives in west end ... rooftop bbq to be exact, so will miss the fireworks on the water, but get snaps of the big stuff ... and i wll investigate your link above and see if i can't find some good opportunities ;-))
@brizmako I sure do - I'll check it our tonight when I get home. I'm booked up for Riverfire but will hopefully be able to tag onto the Southbank/City of Lights expedition. @veritymccoll Sorry Verity! The lazer/light thing is pretty much every night for three weeks, so hopefully you can make it down to capture them. @taidster I agree Tadii. As I mentioned - I found most Brisbanites by flood-related posts, now I'm posting what is essentially a celebration of the river. @mozette@aa@kaost Look forward to seeing the results!
@elliotwb Actually, I'm thinking of making September a themed month of Brisbane City... so I've gathered together all the photos I've take of this beautiful city, slotted them into a folder on my computer and will display them in the best possible ways. :D
I've put up two so far, and have a tag: Brisbane_City
I have already gotten afew photos that have that tag from last year... however, this month will make it bigger. :)
Elliot you rock. I didn't even know about it. After going to Vivid in June in Sydney I will definitely be going to this a few times. Any idea how long the light shows go for?
